FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
September 13, 2017
On behalf of The Diplomat Beach Resort in Hollywood, FL., we’d like to thank you for your support in the wake of Hurricane Irma. We have received an outpouring of concern for our ambassadors and property, and we are truly grateful. Our hearts and thoughts continue to be with those impacted.
We are pleased to announce that The Diplomat Beach Resort remains open and operational. Our team and the city have worked diligently to clear the property and surrounding roadways of scattered debris to restore limited service operations as of Friday, September 15, 2017. The property will be fully operational, to include our 10 food and beverage outlets, as of Saturday, September 16, 2017.
We are strong in Florida and are humbled by the selfless efforts of our team members, guests, first responders, local and state authorities and the entire community who have come together to help one another through this devastating storm.
Early reports indicate that many business in the Hollywood area will be up and running by tomorrow. We are happy to share that Gulfstream and Aventura Mall are accessible and select stores are already open for business. Both Miami International and Fort Lauderdale International airports are open and every day will add more flights to help visitors get to our great city. Cruise passengers are arriving and departing out of both Ports and local buses are operating as of Wednesday, September 13, 2017.
The sun is shining in Florida and we can assure you we are open and ready to provide you and your group with the hospitality you expect from not only Hilton hotels, but from the great people of the city of Hollywood, Florida. Over the weekend, Hurricane Irma caused much damage across the Caribbean and up Florida’s west coast. Our thoughts are with those who were affected by this catastrophic storm.
Fortunately, The Diplomat Beach Resort was spared Irma’s wrath and is ready to host the NIBA/PTDA Joint Industry Summit.
We talked to the management at The Diplomat as well as others in the area and are confident your experience will be spectacular. While the hotel did sustain some minor damage, primarily in landscaping, restoration crews are already at work. The hotel maintained power throughout the storm so all services are up and running. The hotel plans to be fully functional by this Saturday, September 16, a full 10 days before our arrival. The resort is hosting another large group this weekend.
The Everglades Tour will go on as planned.
Unfortunately, the course at the Fort Lauderdale Country Club did sustain some damage and there is some question as to whether it can be restored in time for the ICP Golf Outing. We will know more by the end of the week and will communicate what we learn immediately. Sponsorships, greens, foursome and club rental fees will be reimbursed if cancellation is necessary.
We are delighted to be able to welcome you to Hollywood, Florida, and The Diplomat Beach Resort for the NIBA/PTDA Joint Industry Summit!
Our thoughts are with all those impacted by Hurricane Irma in South Florida, Puerto Rico, the Caribbean islands and the surrounding region.
The NIBA/PTDA Joint Industry Summit Planning Committee and staff are closely monitoring the weather situation and are in daily contact with The Diplomat Beach Resort about any potential effect the weather may have on our event at the end of this month.
There are no changes to report at this time, but we’ll be sure to keep you informed as news develops.
The hotel staff will keep us up to date on any new developments which will promptly be relayed to you by email, social media and website updates.
If you have any questions or concerns, kindly contact us.
